Burna Boy, a well-known Afrobeats musician, proposes that the Recording Academy create the new Grammy category for “Best African Music Performance” in his honor.
The well-known African musician admitted feeling responsible for the new African Music category’s creation in the Grammy awards.
He revealed this in a current interview with the Los Angeles Times. Burna Boy questioned whether the Recording Academy’s newly created category would hold the same prestige as the others.
Burna said;
“I do feel somewhat responsible for the new ‘Best African Music Performance’ category, which is nice. At the same time, what is it really? Is it a consolation category? Will it hold as much prestige? I’m waiting to see.”
