David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, reveals in a recent statement how Wizkid, a fellow musician, inspired him to pursue a career in music.
Davido claimed in an interview that Wizkid and other musicians inspired him to pursue a career in music while he was still a resident of the United States of America (U. S. A).
He claimed that the biggest artists at the time were Psquare, D’banj, and 2Baba, and that Wizkid’s ascent piqued his interest in the Nigerian music scene.
“I remember being in the club then like the biggest artistes were like Psquare, D’banj, even then Wizkid was like young, really young because I remember like he was just coming up in the game, so the game was coming up,” the man said.
I still recall that feeling, when I thought, “I want to do Nigerian music, and I want to get on this early, like I can really tall like is going to be big.”
Despite their long-standing rivalry in the music industry, Wizkid and Davido are unquestionably among the most important developments in the history of Afrobeats because they have elevated the genre to a global scale and elevated the reputation of their native Nigeria.
