Ogun state police have arrested 43-year-old Abiodun Oladapo on suspicion of impregnating his 19-year old daughter, persuading her to claim her boyfriend was responsible for the pregnancy.
The arrest follows a complaint by Oluwatoyin Idowu on March 24, who reported that his son was falsely accused of impregnating the victim.
State Police spokeswoman, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the victim who is now five months pregnant, confessed to the police that her father had been having sex with her since February 2022, and also threatened to harm her if she told anyone.
“According to the victim, when she found out she was pregnant, her father asked her to lie against her boyfriend Michael Idowu, for being responsible for the pregnancy. DPO Mowe Division, SP Folake Afeniforo sent detectives to Randy’s father, after which he was arrested. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime but blamed the devil.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had been separated from the victim’s mother for a long time, but when her mother remarried she adopted the girl and she has been living with him ever since.” said Abimbola.
A police spokesman said the state police commissioner, he CP Frank Mba, has ordered that the suspect be transferred to the state’s Criminal Investigation Service for possible further investigation and prosecution.
