Recently some throwback photos of Fela Kuti (who is regarded in Nigeria and Africa at large as a great icon in the music industry) were shared on facebook and this has caused controversies on the platform.

Fela Kuti was and is still known for his unique style and is remembered for the influence he made with his music. For many, the legend lives on as he left a legacy we all know today as Afrobeats.
The term ‘Afrobeats‘ was coined in the 1960’s by Fela Kuti who is the primary architect of Afrobeat sound.
Fela Kuti and his band ‘Africa 70’ defined the sprawling scope and relentlessly funky sound of the genre from the early 1960s until his death in 1997.

A Facebook user ‘Mr. Tayo A. Lawal’ who is undoubtedly a strong fan of the legend also shared a photo with the shoes of the late legend in the Kalakuta Museum.
Also, prolific nigerian writer, poet, musician & entrepreneur ‘Chinyere Mirian Ugoke‘ shared a catchy comment about the legend, describing Fela to be a man who fought with a thick skin, a Pan-Africanist, a true soldier, a revolutionary warrior and more (see comment below).
Ever since Fela’s death, The Kalakuta where he dwelt with his 28 wives (which he married on thesame day) has become a place of tourist attraction and his funeral remains one of the most attended in Nigeria as it was recorded that over a million people were in the procession to Kalakuta (his house) where he was buried.
