Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi in the just-ended general election, reacted to a viral video of topless women protesting in Nasarawa state over the election results.
Women in Nasarawa’s Akwanga Municipal Government District stripped naked to protest the gubernatorial election results (View Post).
The women claimed their powers of attorney had been stolen and insisted they had to count their votes.
Obi replied to his Twitter on Friday night saying that if people were denied their choice, the purpose of the election would be nullified.
“I came across a sad and heartbreaking video of a topless Nasarawa woman protesting to voice her dissatisfaction with the election results,” he said. The Labour Party presidential candidate said it would be a grave injustice if citizens could not vote through a free, fair and credible process.
He complained that women whose rights should be protected have now been degraded.

Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared the winner of the Nasarawa gubernatorial election on March 18 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
State Reconciliation and Returns Officer Professor Ishaya Tanko said the APC candidate cast a total of 347,209 votes and his closest opponent, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate who received 283,016 votes, defeated David Ombugadu said.
