Popular movie director Yomi Fabiyi may have not anticipated that the utterly fiery reactions to his recently debuted movie “OKO IYABO” would be this intense.
Although Fabiyi was heavily involved in the Baba Ijesha rape issue that rocked the helms of the Nigerian movie industry a few weeks ago -with a currently pending court case, he has come out to release a movie which others describe as a twisted version of the original events that occurred.
There have been a gazillion reactions on the movie “OKO IYABO” on the Nigerian Internet space as YouTube has pulled down the movie due to massive reports of the movie as inappropriate.
Celebrities, notable among them Tonto Dikeh and a host of others have openly criticised Yomi for his alleged “insensitivity” and “ploy to twist facts so as to turn the aforementioned narrative to the favour of Baba Ijesha”.
From the movie, it can be noticed that the names of those involved in Baba Ijesha’s rape case are used by the characters depicting a very similar situation to that which took place a few weeks ago.
Although the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria(TAMPAN) has summoned Yomi Fabiyi for a hearing on the issue, the firepower being unleashed on Fabiyi isn’t dying down.
